Letter from the President

Welcome to the Wenonah High School Grand Alumni Association, I wish to report that the outlook for the coming year is brighter than it has been for some time.  With a positive, assertive attitude, nothing can stop us. We are proud of our accomplishments in such a short period of existence.  We are making giant strides in meeting our organizational goal of making an alumnus contact list while still proceeding to support the school. Rosalind Rudolph Young pres@whsgaa.org

Wenonah takes top honor in Food Network-style cooking competition

Brianna Patterson, left, and Amber Parks, both seniors at Wenonah prepare their team's entry in the 2014 Gold Spoon competition

BIRMINGHAM, Alabama -- Wenonah High School's culinary team took top honors during the 2014 Golden Spoon competition today. The win means the Culinary Institute of Virginia College will extend scholarship offers of $2,250 to each of the team's three members: Mychalal Redeaux, Amber Parks and Brianna Patterson. All seniors, it was Parks' and Patterson's second year on the culinary team and Redeaux's first year. "I guess trying out new flavors, new things and just figuring out what I can do that's new," said Parks' when asked what she loves about cooking. The team had just 20 minutes to come up with recipes based on a pre-selected assortment of ingredients and just two hours to prepare their appetizer, entree and dessert. Complete article

Wenonah's Justin Coleman is the headliner on the 2014 Birmingham News All-Metro boys basketball team

“You put real work in and always get results,” Coleman said. “That’s my quote there. That’s truth.”Complete article
